Paint removal method, there was no damage to either the bricks or mortar

We have a late 1940's brick house that like many houses in the Glen Iris area is built with red bricks that are full of character and colour.  When we bought the house several years ago the previous owners had painted over the red bricks with a boring white, leaving our house looking like a blot on the landscape.

We were very cautious about removing the paint as our bricks and mortar are quite fragile due to salt attack, rising damp and a poor mortar mix.  We looked into removing the paint with sandblasting, but ruled this out due to the harsh nature of the process and high likelihood of damage to the bricks and mortar.

It was at this point I found John's website and his method of paint removal.  I contacted John, who provided a very reasonable quote and 2 weeks later the work commenced.  John was able to successfully remove all the white paint to reveal the lovely old red bricks and original mortar.  And due to John's paint removal method, there was no damage to either the bricks or mortar.  We are absolutely wrapped with the end result.

Dealing with John was a breeze.  He turned up when he said he would and spent every day on our job.  I highly recommend him to anyone who needs to remove paint and also recommend his method of removing paint over sand blasting.

The end result was stunning

In 2005 we decided to restore the street frontage of our heritage home to its original Victoria grandeur. Hidden beneath decades of austere grey paintwork was a beautiful but fragile Hawthorn brick façade. Paint removal was the first step of the restoration process and to ensure the century old masonry would not be damaged we researched many cleaning techniques and interviewed several providers. In the end we chose John Van Rein of Water Pressure Cleaning for his knowledge and experience of heritage cleaning. It is all too easy to blast a fragile surface with high pressure, heat and chemicals for a quick clean. However, John Van Rein carefully explained how a lower pressure clean, using a tailored chemical process rather than brute force, would provide the better outcome and not damage the delicate mortar. The end result was stunning and in 2010 we have decided to give the sides of our home the same treatment. Needless to say we once again chose Water Pressure Cleaning for this project.

Professionally undertake delicate heritage mouldings and brickwork paint removal

Water Pressure Cleaning Melbourne was contracted to remove paint from mouldings and brickwork around my home in winter 2009. John was extremely  knowledgeable, experienced and easy to deal with. His job was undertaken successfully with due care and timeliness and we were very pleased with the results. I would have no hesitation recommending John to be able to professionally undertake delicate heritage mouldings and brickwork paint removal as he has done with my home.

Bricks look amazing

My wife and I would not hesitate in recommending John as we are thrilled with the results he achieved. His methodical and patient  approach meant that not only did the bricks look amazing but the tuckpointing was preserved.
